If I were to give you something that you valued, how would you feel? Appreciated? Loved? Respected? If you were to give me something that you know I valued, how would you feel? Better or worse?
Don’t we all really want the same things? Don’t we want to be loved, valued, respected, and appreciated? Deep down to the core, we all have this underlying desire to be loved, valued, respected, and appreciated. Our desire to be loved, valued, and respected all seem to stem from one want, which is to be treated with compassion. One could argue that the absence of receiving compassion leads to a whole variety of problems that negatively affect us on a global scale.
So, we can see that compassion is the key. Compassion is the key to turning around or avoiding disagreements, anger, frustration, and other negative emotions. If we can find the true goodness within ourselves to set aside our physical and often selfish tendencies, we all have the power and potential to extend compassion to others. If we can find and offer compassion to others, we are giving others what they really want. When we give compassion to others or if we receive compassion from others, it lifts our energy level and rate of vibration, and we become closer to the universal spirit which binds us all.
After all, that’s what we are. We are the spirit; we are not flesh and bone. The flesh and bone is just machinery; we occupy a physical body. However, we are more than just a physical being. We have a spirit and a soul which extend beyond the physical limitations of time and space. We are eternal beings. We have the power to choose to reach inside and access the true self that lies within: the one who is loving and compassionate toward all. That is true spirit, and that is who we really are.
Don’t consume your resources engaged in worry about measuring up to others. It’s all a creation of the physical body, which is made of the elements of the earth, nothing less, and nothing more. All valuation we place upon anything is based on a physical and painful attachment we have to our possessions. Spiritually, we all are cut from the same cloth — we are all one with the source — free from attachment to anything physical.
We are all connected and equal with each other, all here to accomplish the same thing; we are all here to learn how we can become closer to that universal spirit which unites us all and to be supportive of each other. We are all here to learn how we can improve ourselves and live with a higher purpose. When we think about our purpose at a spiritual level, we quickly find there is no room for judgement or jealousy or negativity. If we make more room for love in the heart, and squeeze out the space we have reserved within for negativity and aggression and hostility, we can radiate the compassion that is such a powerful gift to offer to others.
When I look out at all people that inhabit this earth, especially those who are suffering in some way, I see a sea of potential. I see so much goodness to be unearthed in all of us. I see so much greatness, waiting to be reborn and shown. I see so much possibility for unveiling of true unending compassion and love and goodwill toward all. I see so much of a connection between beings that yearns to be rediscovered, like a forgotten treasure, buried deep beneath the surface. If we can find the opportunity to look at our fellow inhabitants of this earth as brothers and sisters, when we all can learn to see the true greatness and love and compassion in others, and when we can move past judgmentalism to arrive at a desire to connect at the spiritual level and see goodness that we all possess, that will be a day to celebrate.
Let’s all celebrate life. Let’s all celebrate our gifts. Let’s offer others a gift which is so very needed each and every day. Let’s celebrate our ability to choose compassion and share it with others. Let’s free each other. Let’s all do it together.
