About Dr. Victor Schueller

A different approach to chiropractic care.

More than 20 years in chiropractic and Anatomy & Physiology, with a treatment philosophy built around care that is precise, intentional, diverse and thorough.

Chiropractic Care Done Differently

For more than 20 years, Dr. Victor Schueller has worked at the intersection of anatomy, physiology, health, and chiropractic care. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, began teaching college Anatomy & Physiology full time in 2005, and opened his Kiel chiropractic office in 2018.

Today, his approach at Restorative Chiropractic & Dry Needling is built around a simple principle: treatment should have a reason behind it.

That means taking the time to understand why you're seeking care, evaluating the problem, explaining what may be contributing to it, and selecting treatment based on what you need—not simply repeating the same treatment because that's what was done at your last visit.

Precise. Intentional. Diverse. Thorough.

Those aren't simply words describing the kind of care Dr. Schueller wants to provide. They describe how treatment decisions are made at Restorative.

BACKGROUND

More Than 20 Years in Chiropractic and Anatomy & Physiology

Dr. Schueller earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences and has been a licensed chiropractor since 2004. He also holds Wisconsin state certification in nutrition.

In 2005, he began teaching Anatomy & Physiology at the college level—a role he continues full time today.

For more than two decades, his professional life has centered on understanding the human body from both clinical and academic perspectives.

Teaching Anatomy & Physiology requires continually examining how the body's structures work, how its systems interact, and how changes in one area can affect function elsewhere. Chiropractic practice applies that understanding directly to the evaluation and treatment of patients.

Today, those two perspectives come together at Restorative: more than 20 years of experience in chiropractic combined with more than 20 years teaching the structure and function of the human body.

A Broader Background in Health, Wellness and Human Behavior

Dr. Schueller's professional experience hasn't been limited to chiropractic and the classroom.

Beginning around 2011, his interest in neurology, human behavior, interpersonal relationships, leadership, and personal development led him into several years of writing, podcasting, speaking, workplace wellness, and business coaching.

During that period, he conducted and published more than 100 podcast interviews with authors, researchers, scientists, thought leaders, and other experts.

He also became a personal-development blogger and later presented workplace wellness and professional-development programs for businesses.

Eventually, those activities wound down as his interests changed and his Kiel chiropractic practice grew.

But something from that period remained: the habit of asking questions, learning from different disciplines, and resisting the assumption that there is only one way to approach a problem.

That philosophy continues to influence how care is delivered at Restorative today.

APPROACH

Why Restorative Chiropractic Is Different

A chiropractic visit doesn't have to mean walking in, receiving an adjustment, and walking back out.

And an adjustment doesn't have to involve twisting the body or trying to produce a crack or pop.

At Restorative, treatment begins by determining what you're trying to accomplish and what Dr. Schueller finds during your evaluation. From there, care is selected according to the problem being treated.

For one patient, that may primarily involve a chiropractic adjustment. For another, treatment might combine an adjustment with soft-tissue work or stretching. Depending on the diagnosis and clinical circumstances, other options may include dry needling, Class IV laser therapy, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation.

Not every patient needs every treatment.

And not every visit needs to look exactly like the visit before it.

The objective is to use the treatment—or combination of treatments—that makes sense for you, your condition, and your goals at that point in your care.

TREATMENT

Precise Chiropractic Adjustments Without the Twist and Crack

Dr. Schueller began his career using traditional manual chiropractic adjusting techniques. That changed significantly when he was introduced to computer-aided instrument adjusting shortly before opening his Kiel office in 2018.

Today, most chiropractic adjustments at Restorative are delivered using the Impulse IQ computerized adjusting instrument.

But the computer doesn't decide where you need to be adjusted.

Dr. Schueller does.

He still evaluates the patient, palpates the spine and surrounding tissues, identifies the areas that warrant treatment, and determines where an adjustment should be delivered. The Impulse IQ is the mechanism used to deliver that adjustment with a controlled force and focused contact.

This allows chiropractic manipulation to be performed without relying on the twisting and rotational positioning commonly associated with some traditional manual techniques.

A Good Adjustment Doesn't Require a “Crack”

The familiar popping sound associated with chiropractic isn't the objective of an adjustment.

Dr. Schueller's goal is to appropriately mobilize the joint—not to create a sound.

That means patients who dislike forceful manual manipulation, have had uncomfortable chiropractic experiences in the past, or simply prefer a gentler approach have another option.

Manual techniques may occasionally be used when Dr. Schueller determines they are appropriate, including techniques utilizing specialized drop sections of the chiropractic table. But even then, producing a crack or pop isn't the measure of whether treatment was successful.

At Restorative, precision matters more than a sound.

More Than an Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustment is an important part of what Restorative does—but it isn't the only tool available. And the spine isn't necessarily the source of every problem.

Pain isn't always coming from where you feel it.

Low back pain, for example, may sometimes involve dysfunction in the hip or surrounding structures. What feels like a shoulder problem may sometimes involve the rib cage or other nearby structures. Focusing treatment only on the location where it hurts can mean overlooking another area that may be contributing to the problem.

That's why treatment at Restorative begins by looking for the source of the problem—not simply the location of the symptoms.

Consider a patient seeking care for a shoulder problem.

The first question isn't simply, “Where should we adjust?”

The shoulder and related structures can be evaluated to determine where the problem appears to originate and which areas may be involved. Based on those findings, treatment may include adjusting joints associated with shoulder mechanics, but it may also involve treatment directed toward the rib cage or other contributing structures.

Soft-tissue treatment, stretching, ultrasound, Class IV laser therapy, dry needling, or another appropriate therapy may also be incorporated when indicated.

Another patient with a different problem may require an entirely different approach.

This is why Restorative maintains multiple treatment options within the practice.

Having more tools doesn't mean using all of them. It means having options when one tool isn't enough.

PHILOSOPHY

Care Should Be Going Somewhere

Dr. Schueller believes chiropractic treatment should have an objective.

Sometimes that objective is recovery from a new injury or painful condition. Sometimes it is improving mobility or returning to an activity. And sometimes a patient knowingly chooses periodic care because it helps maintain a level of comfort or function that is important to them.

What matters is that there is a purpose behind the care.

What Happens When You're Not Improving?

If a patient continues receiving essentially the same treatment but isn't making meaningful progress toward the agreed-upon goal, Dr. Schueller believes that deserves attention—not automatic repetition.

Sometimes the treatment plan needs to change.

That could mean adding or changing something within Restorative, such as dry needling, laser therapy, soft-tissue treatment, stretching, or another therapeutic approach.

At other times, it may mean discussing whether another type of healthcare or another treatment option should be considered.

The important thing is the conversation.

If chiropractic is helping you accomplish what you want it to accomplish, there may be good reason to continue. If it isn't, doing the same thing indefinitely isn't a treatment strategy.

Precise. Intentional. Diverse. Thorough.

These four ideas summarize the approach to care at Restorative.

Precise

Treatment is directed toward the areas identified through your history, evaluation, and clinical findings. That sometimes means looking beyond the location where symptoms are being felt to identify other structures that may be contributing to the problem.

Chiropractic adjustments are typically delivered using computer-aided instrumentation designed to provide a focused, controlled adjustment.

Intentional

There should be a clinical reason for what happens during your visit.

Treatment is selected according to what you're presenting with, what the evaluation reveals, and what you're trying to accomplish—not simply because it's what every patient receives.

Diverse

Chiropractic adjusting is one treatment option, not the entire toolbox.

Dry needling, Class IV laser therapy, soft-tissue work, stretching, and other therapies allow different problems to be approached differently and give Dr. Schueller additional options when the clinical situation warrants them.

Thorough

A visit doesn't automatically end because the adjustment has been delivered.

When your condition warrants additional treatment, other appropriate therapies can be incorporated into the visit.

The result is an approach organized around what needs to be accomplished rather than how quickly a routine can be completed.

From Animity to Restorative

The practice that is now Restorative Chiropractic & Dry Needling originally grew from a much broader idea.

Animity Health & Wellness was created around helping people live healthier lives. Over the years, that mission took many forms—including wellness education, writing, podcasting, speaking, coaching, workplace wellness, and eventually chiropractic care.

As the Kiel practice developed, its purpose became much clearer.

Chiropractic care—and later dry needling—became the primary focus.

The name Restorative Chiropractic & Dry Needling reflects that clarity. Rather than trying to encompass every aspect of health and wellness, the Restorative name tells patients what the practice is here to do: provide a distinctive approach to chiropractic care and dry needling for Kiel and the surrounding community.

The name changed.

The commitment to helping people move toward better health didn't.

A Different Chiropractic Experience in Kiel

Restorative isn't designed to be a high-volume chiropractic office.

Appointments are intentionally structured to give Dr. Schueller time to evaluate what's happening, provide appropriate treatment, and incorporate additional therapies when they are warranted.

You won't be judged by whether your back makes a popping sound.

You won't automatically receive every therapy simply because it's available.

And you shouldn't continue receiving the same treatment indefinitely without considering whether it's accomplishing what you came in to accomplish.

Instead, the approach is straightforward:

Understand the problem.
Choose treatment intentionally.
Pay attention to progress.
Adapt when necessary.

That's chiropractic care done differently.
